"Writing is a way of freezing our thinking, of slowing down the thoughts that pass through our consciousness at lightning speed, so that we can examine our views and alter them if appropriate.  Writing enables us to note inconsistencies, logical flaws, and areas that would benefit from additional clarity" (Sparks, 2005).

FORMAT FOR WRITING A JOURNAL..

before you start to do your journal, your must know what type of your journal :
1. Freestyle
2. Structured or guided format
in the types of journal writing have give an explanation a little bit for your information. From here your can know about type of your journal.
below the statement i take from this website (Introduction to Journal-Style Scientific Writing)
you can read more from there..

The first task to accomplish as you begin the process of writing is to order and organize the information you wish to present. Some people work well from an outline, others do not. Some people write first to discover the points, then rearrange them using an after-the-fact outline. Whatever process you may use, be aware that scientific writing requires special attention to order and organization. Because the paper will be divided into sections, you need to know what information will go into each. If you don't normally work from an outline, this may be an occasion when you'll at least want to develop a list of the major points to be included in each section, before you begin to write. If the paper has multiple authors, then this is a good time to work (and negotiate!) with your collaborators to insure that all the points the group wants to make get listed.

Here, i share about Nature Journal, you can read it. below is the statement about nature journal.

Nature journals are international, so in writing a paper, authors should consider those readers for whom English is a second language. The journals are read mainly by professional scientists, so authors can avoid unnecessary simplification or didactic definitions. However, many readers are outside the immediate discipline of the author, so clarity of expression is needed to achieve the goal of comprehensibility.

Journal Article Review APA Style
This part also important because reviewing journal articles is an important assignment on its own or as part of a much larger research paper.

# Search the library's online databases, such as EbscoHost and others, to find scholarly or peer-reviewed articles. You can also look in indexes available at the library.

# Read the entire article. Many journal articles can be quite complex and use complicated wording and statistics. You may need to read the article a few times before you get a full grasp of it.

# Write a citation for the journal article at the top of the review. The citation should follow the American Psychological Association's style--consult the APA-style manual or the link under Resources for citation information. You will need the title of the article, the journal where the article is published, the volume and issue number, publication date, author's name and page numbers for the article.

# Write a summary of the article. This should be one to three paragraphs, depending on the length of the article. Include the purpose for the article, how research was conducted, the results and other pertinent information from the article.

# Discuss the meaning or implication of the results of the study that the article is about. This should be one to two paragraphs. This is where you offer your opinion on the article. Discuss any flaws with the article, how you think it could have been better and what you think it all means.

# Write one paragraph discussing how the author could expand on the results, what the information means in the big picture, what future research should focus on or how future research could move the topic forward. Discuss how knowledge in the area could be expanded.

# Cite any direct quotes or paraphrases from the article. Use the author's name, the year of publication and the page number (for quotes) in the in-text citation. Refer to the link in the Resources section to do this correctly.
